Hokkaido Dairy Farm, Hong Kong

Hello food lovers! My travel journey started in this small cute cafe, namely Hokkaido Dairy Farm. I spotted this cafe when my taxi passed after I landed in Hong Kong =p Since it is near from my hotel in Mong Kok, thus I did search some search about this cafe.

The place is small, but cute. The decoration is simple, dominated by blue-white colour, and it makes you feel like you are eating in a small barn. From the outside, the cafe is just like a small blue house, which is my favorite colour. It is beside The PHO restaurant.

Japanese curry rice is their signature dish. There are also breakfast set menu and honey toast. If you go for breakfast, you can try their breakfast menu. Although I came here for dinner, mostly the customers ordered their big breakfast menu and honey toast. As for me, I ordered Beef Bowl Rice, Fish Katsu Curry, and Hamburg Steak Curry. All of these dishes are set with drink (choose between lemon tea/juice/milk tea).

Fish Katsu Curry (HKD 68, include drink)

I like the deep-fried fish (red snapper fish) since it does not have fishy smell. As for the rice, this is a Japanese rice. Chewy texture, me love it! However, I don’t like the curry’s taste since it is different with the authentic Japanese curry’s taste.

Hamburg Steak Curry (HKD 69, include drink)

The steak is good, tender, and beefy. The meat is also good if you add the curry. I think the taste of curry is more suitable with the beef meat rather than fish or chicken.

Beef Bowl Rice (HKD 58, include drink)

This one is most likely Japanese Beef Bowl Rice from Y*s*****a in Jakarta. However, the taste is not as good as the one in Jakarta. The beef has more fat rather than meat. Since I hate fat, I don’t like this beef bowl rice =(

Moreover, you can try this cafe since you will never get to try it in Indonesia. All of stores started with “Hokkaido” always sell cheese tart and desserts. In Hong Kong, you can try the breakfast menu, honey toast, and curry rice.

Stay tune for my travel journey in Hong Kong.

Ezo Cheesecake & Bakery Kelapa Gading

Ezo Cheesecakes & Bakery Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato

Hello dessert lovers! Your waiting is finally over. Ezo Cheececake & Bakery has opened their 2nd store in Mal Kelapa Gading (MKG). So, it makes me easier to eat those tasty cheese tarts. The place is located at MKG 2, besides Aldo Shoes. It is so easy to spot the location since it is at the center of the 2nd floor.

The place is elegantly- designed, with chandeliers’ cages on the ceiling, making the place even more romantic and sweet. The store is small, only 4 tables for dine in. The mouthwatering cheese tarts are displayed at the front, There are 14 flavors of cheese tarts and 4 flavors of cheese cakes. Moreover, they also have the Camembert Cheese Ice Cream for IDR 20k!

I like some of the cheese tarts since they are tasty, sweet, and small. Never fell guilty while eating them. I tried 12 flavors of them since not all flavors were there everyday. FYI, all of the flavors contain the cheese cream on the bottom of the tart, including the chocolate-based flavors.

1. Original cheese: good, but the competitors are tastier (read my previous blog here)

2. Marshmallow: quiet good. The marshmallow is so soft and fluffy on top, combining with the sweetness of the white chocolate.

3. Tiramisu: For coffee lover, you should tryh this one! The cocoa powder and coffee taste are strong enough. Tasty!

4. Matcha: not as good as I thought before. The matcha taste is not authentic.

5. Blueberry cheese: I like this one. The sour taste of blueberry is so good when combined with the cheese cream. Yummy!

6. Ovomaltine: Recommended! My favorite one! It is so (damn) good when you eat it in cold. The crunchy sensation of ovomaltine makes everything just perfect. The sweetness is just right, not too sweet, and well-blend with the cheese cream

7. Nutella: also my favorite! The taste is similar like Ovomaltine, minus the crunchy sensation. Just perfect!

8. Strawberry: Tasted like strawberry shortcake. Sweet, sour, and fresh. You will love it even though you don’t like strawberry
9. Almond white chocolate cheesebomb: also my favorite, sweet.
10. Oreo cheese: this is also good, but the cheese cream is overcome the oreo taste.
11. Caramel Espresso: I like the aroma and the taste of the caramel. Not bad.
12. Lemon yuzu: this is the most favorite flavor of all foodies. The sour taste of lemon and yuzu combining with the sweet, cheesy, and creamy of the cheese tart.

Since I got voucher for cheesecakes, then I go for them! The small cake costs IDR 128k (whole cake) and the sliced cakes costs IDR 35k/pc. The cake is soft, fluffy, and creamy. The cream cheese is good when it is served cold. There are 4 flavors: matcha, oreo, original cheese, and tiramisu. I like the Original cheese cake and Matcha. The taste of green tea from Japan is detected in cheese cake, instead in the cheese tart. The original cheese is also good. The cheese taste is so soft like the real Hokkaido cheese cake.

This is a unique flavor for me. Camembert cheese is an ice cream? Why not! It tasted so delicious and cheesy. The texture of the ice cream is soft and the cone is also tasty. For cheese lovers, you will love it! Since I don’t like cheese so much, I think the taste of the cheese has overwhelmed me. Better to eat the ice cream for two. I could not finish it alone. However, you should try this unique ice cream for once  The ice cream costs IDR 20/k per cone (quiet big potion).

Overall, Ezo Cheesecake offers you a unique cheesebomb tarts in affordable price, compared to the other competitors. The compact texture of the cheese cream and also the tart will make you want to eat more and more. The tarts are good in warm and cold condition, but I suggest you to eat it in cold. The cheese cream is not the melted-type and better to keep it in chiller. The cheese cake is also good, although the sliced cake is small enough. The ice cream is delicious and unique. To make your weekend even more perfect, have yourselves at Ezo Cheesecake & Bakery. You’ll never regret it!

Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tart vs Hokkaido Baby

Hokkaido Baby Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato

Many questions about “what is the difference between Hokkaido Baked and Hokkaido Baby ?” appeared on my IG’s DM few days ago. That’s why I’m writing this review to erase your curiosity 🙂 Hope you guys could decide which one is the best ♥

2017-03-13 07.07.00 1-01.jpeg

Coming from Malaysia (the original one from Japan is actually called “Bake from Hokaido”), Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tart and Hokkaido Baby have been so famous in ASEAN, especially Indonesia. There are 3 outlets of Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tart in Indonesia : Kota Kasablanka Mall, Kelapa Gading Mall, and Senayan City Mall. However, there are only two outlets of Hokkaido Baby in Jakarta, which are located in Pondok Indah Mall and Neo Soho Mall. There are 2 more outlets in Surabaya : Galaxy Mall and Tunjungan Plaza. Both of them are very popular of their signature tart : the melted cheese tart.

The queue line for both Hokkaido Baked and Hokkaido Baby are so long, like hours. Now, you can buy them in the big malls in Jakarta. Let’s start comparing ♥

Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tart

Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tart

Soft and creamy cheese with a great texture of the tart. Not too hard, not too soft. The cheese is thick, but directly melts in your mouth. So creamy in the right proportion. Actually, the taste is milky, more like keju manis. The pie crust was crispy, but firm. It’s thicker than any kind of egg tart.

In Indonesia, Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tart has only one flavor, which is the Original (Cheese). In Singapore and Malaysia, they have other flavor variants such as chocolate and durian. I tasted the original flavor form Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur. Honestly, I prefer the one form KL. The tart is crispier and the cheese is creamier and thicker as compared the one from Jakarta. However, the chocolate tart is not as good as the original.

Hokkaido Baby

The only one Hokkaido Baby outlet is at Pondok Indah Mall, Jakarta. So, it’s better to taste it directly at the outlet. There are 4 flavor variants : Cheese, Chocolate, Matcha, and Salted Egg.  The filling is runnier than Hokkaido Baked. I like the pie crust. Crispy and thinner. The pie crust is so fragile. So, watch out when you do your first bite 🙂

Hokkaido Baby Cheese

The cheese flavor is creamy, cheesy, and melted directly in your mouth. The salted egg flavor is good, but not my favorite one. The chocolate flavor is not so good and the match is quiet good, but not my favorite one.

Hokkaido Baked vs Hokkaido Baby

 1. Pie Crust

The difference can be tasted from the pie crust. The base or crust is good and crunchy for both them. However, I prefer Hokkaido Baby’s since the crust is crunchier and thinner. Effortlessly in chewing it in my mouth. Actually, the crust of Hokkaido Baked is good, but too thick for a cheese tart.

2. The Filling

The filling from Hokkaido Baked is thick, bold, and tasty. Not sweet, but not salty. On the other hand, the filling of Hokkaido Baby Tart is watery, to a point it’s like cream fillings. It has a very good aroma, simply because once they finish reheat it, they brush it with butter or margarine so it smells so good. In terms of the filling, I prefer Baked Cheese Tart because the filling is thicker and not too runny. I think the filling from Hokkaido Baby is too watery for a tart filling.

3. The Flavor variants

In terms of flavor variants, Hokkaido Baby wins over Hokkaido Baked in Indonesia. They have more flavor variants as compared to Hokkaido Baked which has only one flavor.

In Indonesia, for me Hokkaido Baby wins over Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tart. However, it depends on your preference liking. Many people also like thicker crust and thicker filling.

Moreover, you must bite the cheese tarts directly after you pay them. Otherwise, the taste and texture will be different when you eat it at home. Eat it while it still warm 🙂

Enjoy your day ♥
