La Fleur Cafe, Sunway, Malaysia

Hello from Malaysia! Happy New Year 2019 and hope this year will be filled with lots of blessings for you and me 🙂

2018_1118_15282600-01.jpeg

So, I want to share you about this cute Unicorn cafe in Sunway, Malaysia which I visited in 2018. The owners are a couple of Korean spouse. The concept is similar with the Unicorn Cafe in Bangkok, where you can rent the costumes for photoshoot.

LRM_EXPORT_20181119_215437.jpg

LRM_EXPORT_20181119_215135.jpg

The cafe is located inside the Sunway GEO Avenue, Ground Floor. The place is small, but it’s decorated with cute stuff such as pink guitar, colorful balls, and unicorn dolls. So pinky and super cute.

LRM_EXPORT_20181119_215623.jpg

For the food and drinks, there are waffles, unicorn cake, and DIY latte.

Unicorn Cake (RM 21.90)

LRM_EXPORT_20181119_214703-01.jpeg

Actually, there is cuter unicorn cake, but I don’t like cream. So, I decided to buy this pink unicorn cake which is a mousse cake. The mousse is soft, has dried apricot (I think) fruit inside, and the presentation is just too cute to be eaten!

DIY Chocolate Latte (RM 15)

DSCF5063edit.jpg

Actually, the chocolate latte tastes good and not too sweet. Unlike any other latte in other coffee shops, the latte art is made by ourself. So, I made my own kind of latter art and failed!

DSCF5075.JPG

Overall, you must visit this cafe while you are in Malaysia since the cafe is so cute and the food is quite OK. The price is a bit pricey, but it’s worth for Instagram.

Happy New Year!

The Highlights of Istanbul

It’s been a long time since I wrote my travel journey about Three Beauties of Cappadocia. I have been so busy since I got back from Turkey. Besides, Cappadocia, I could say that Istanbul has been my no.1 favorite city in Turkey, perhaps in Europe. I have been to London and Paris. They are beautiful, so vintage, so classic. However, Istanbul can wrap all of them into one. It is the home of breathtaking architecture, buildings, tasty food, amazing art, and pretty flowers. It’s also a perfect place for street photography.

At the entrance of Hagia Sophia

For you who want to go to Turkey, I give you a few must visit places for sightseeing and shopping for Istanbul’s first timers:

Emirgan Park

It was my first destination when I arrived at Turkey. It is a historical urban parks at the Emirgan neighbourhood in the Sarıyer district of Istanbul, Turkey, on the European coast of the Bosphorus. It is one of the largest public parks in Istanbul. I saw lots of beautiful tulips and sakura trees. I arrived at 7 AM, so it was still quiet and peaceful for photoshoot.

Hagia Sophia / Aya Sofia Mosque

It is built 1500 years ago as an orthodox Catholic church. After Turkey was defeated in Cross War, the church was re-built as a mosque withour removing the relics and pictures of Christian. You can see the picture of Jesus, Gabriel, and Virgin Mary on the 2nd floor of Aya Sofia. Now, it is a museum with a stunning Byzantine and Islamic architecture. The grand dome of Aya Sofia that towers over the sky of Istanbul is as beautiful inside as it is on the outside.

Sultan Ahmed Blue Mosque

Standing beautifully at the opposite of Aya Sofia, the Bluq Mosque was built by The Great Sultan Ahmed. However, the mosque was still in renovation and closed. Too bad 😦 Just seeing from the outside, the cascading domes are amazing. I love taking pictures on the outdoor area.

The Grand Bazaar / Kalpali Çarsi

For you who like to go shopping (like me!), Istanbul Grand Bazaar is a must visit place. Be careful of entrance and exit doors. It’s as overwhelming with hundreds of mazes and passages filled with thousands of vendors selling everything from spices, lamps, carpets, jewelries to lanterns. just like a labyrinth with the same interior and decoration. Try to wander around first before settling in buying something at the first stall. There are many vendors selling the same thing. Besides, the place is also photogenic to be missed.

LRM_EXPORT_20180509_232457.jpg

LRM_EXPORT_20180509_231141

P.S.: there are also many vendors outside the Grand Bazaar which sell similar things with lower price! The T-shirts and souvenirs are so cheap!

Arasta Bazaar

Arasta Bazaar is located hundreds meter from Aya Sofia. It’s a long tidy street with shops lining on both sides, like the Asiatic Market in Bangkok. Homewares, souvenirs, antiques are sold in Arasta Bazaar, perhaps much better and curated than the Grand Bazaar. It is a pleasant interlude from the bustle of the main tourist attractions with selections of cafes and restaurant inside. Since i got there at 6 PM, the market was closed. Just take a photo in this area since it is also photogenic place.

20180503_191452-01.jpeg

The Spice Market

The interior of Spice Market adopt the Egyptioan relics and atract me to go through into its labyrinth. It’s not as overwhelming as The Grand Bazaar and of course, they sell mostly the herbs and spices. You can get rugs and wallets here as well as the keychains and magnets. The hundreds centuries old Mısır Çarşısı / Egyptian Spice Bazaar, open seven days a week, is full of tourist from many countries due to its low price. It is the best place to buy oils, soap, dried fruits, spices, and Turkish delights as souvenirs.

Taksim Square

Located in Beyoğlu in the European part of Istanbul, Turkey, Taksim Square is a major tourist and leisure district famed for its restaurants, shops, and hotels. It is considered the heart of modern Istanbul, with the central station of the Istanbul Metro network. Taksim Square is also the location of the Monument of the Republic which was crafted by Pietro Canonica and inaugurated in 1928. The monument commemorates the 5th anniversary of the foundation of the Republic of Turkey in 1923, following the Turkish War of Independence.

2018_0504_20071900.jpg

Monument of Taksim

This is my favorite for shopping, eating delicious foods, taking street photograph, and sightseeing. There are many shops such as H&M, Sephora, YSL, Forever 21, and many more. I had my lunch at McD. You can also spot KFC and Burger King along the street. The price was fine and cheaper than in Indonesia. The sun light, the vintage-look shops, and the aroma of the fresh baked cakes are just perfect for me.

The Topkapi Palace

The palace was built in 15th-19th centuries by Ottoman Sultans. The palace complex consists of four main courtyards and many smaller buildings. Female members of the Sultan’s family lived in the harem and leading state officials, including the Grand Vizier, held meetings in the Imperial Council building. The palace complex has hundreds of rooms and chambers, but only the most important are accessible to the public today, including the Ottoman imperial harem and the treasury, called hazine where the Spoonmaker’s Diamond and Topkapi Dagger are on display. The museum collection also includes Ottoman clothing, weapons, armor, miniatures, religious relics, and illuminated manuscripts like the Topkapi manuscript. The complex is guarded by officials of the ministry as well as armed guards of the Turkish military. Unfortunately photography is prohibited in certain places so I can’t give too many photos of the interiors. You will see the hair of Mohammad; the beautiful antique clocks from the 15th century; the sword of David; and the rod of Moses.

Bosphorus Ferry Cruise

LRM_EXPORT_20180512_154349.jpg

One of my favorite part of my travel journey. It’s my final destination of my Turkey travel journey. During 1 hour ferry ride, I enjoyed my last day in Istanbul by the beautiful sea view from Asia to Europe, passing the bridge which links both lands. There were many historical buildings and beautiful sightseeing. Although it was so hot and sunny, the ferry ride wrapped up my Turkey journey from the beginning till the end.

Three Graces are the brilliant three fairy chimneys located on Urgüp, district of Nevsehir. It is the most famous natural beauty and symbol of Urgüp. This amazing natural formation is well known not only its enchanting landscape, but also its incredible story. Thus, today many tourist coming from different countries visit here.

LEGEND OF THREE GRACES

There are two legends about the three graces :
When the tourists visit Urgüp, those unique fairy chimneys named Three Beauties grabs and fascinates them. Thus, they wander its mystic history.

LRM_EXPORT_20180514_215633-012018_0502_14153200-01

Legend 1 : A family who turned into rocks

According to the legend, there was a king and his only daughter living peacefully together. After he lost his wife, the king began to be addicted his only daughter; the princess. He worried about her due to the fact that she was very beautiful and charming.

Hence, all men in the country wanted to be married her. However, the princess fell in love with a shepherd. The king disapproved that marriage and he decided his beloved princess to be married with a chosen man. However, she escaped from the palace and got secretly married with this shepherd.

After years, she give birth a baby. She thought that maybe his father forgive them thanks to their child and set off to the palace. However, the king did not mercy although they had a child. He ordered these soldiers to kill this family. When the princess run away those soldiers of the king, she prayed to the God: “Please, my God, make us either a stone or a bird.” The God accepted their prayer and they immediately convert into a stone (today’s fairy chimney called Three Graces). So, these three fairy chimneys (Üç Güzeller) symbolizes as the princess, her husband and her child.

LRM_EXPORT_20180502_174224.jpg

Legend 2 : Three most beauty Goddesses

According to the Greek mythology, there were 3 beautiful goddesses in this world : Hera, Athena, and Aphrodite. The goddess of Revenge, Nemesis, once turned into an old woman and gave a golden apple to these three goddesses. “Whoever eat this golden apple, she is the most beautiful goddess!” said Nemesis. These 3 goddesses felt that each goddess is the most beautiful one and thus, they asked Zeus to decided. Zeus did not want to claim it, later he told the goddesses to ask the most beautiful man in the world : Paris of Troy.

Hera promises to make Paris as the most powerful and the richest man in the world. Athena promises to give Paris all the wisdom in the world. Aphrodite promises to give the most beautiful woman in the world to be fallen in love with him : Helen of Sparta (later become Helen of Troy). Paris later gives the golden apple to Aphrodite and she asks the Cupid to shoot the love arrow into Helen. And thus, the Trojan war did happen. These rocks represent this 3 beautiful goddesses as they are so beautifully made by God. There is no other rocks that could carved like that naturally.

The people in Urgüp believe that those two legends are true. For me, the three rocks look like chimneys. Thanks God, I could see one of the most beautiful places in the world with amazing landscape. The sky is so blue and the view is so gorgeous.

There is a small bazaar (market) near the entrance. You must do shopping there because the gift shops only sell unique items. You will hardly find the similar items in  another place. Trust me!

Shanghai Lao Lao, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong

Hello noodle lovers! I recommend you to try la mian from Shanghai Lao Lao, CWB, Hong Kong. It is located on the 1/F in a food place (like FX Sudirman, Indonesia) where all food tenants are collected. The place is opposite Kate Spade, H&M, and Ted Baker. I found this place outside my itinerary because I was very hungry at that time and wanted to eat la mian.

Telling the memory of good old days cooking by Lao Lao, who means grandma in north China. Shang Hai Lao Lao is a chained Shanghainese restaurant offering fresh ingredients and perfect cooking every dish at a reasonable price.

To express the warm old home feeling, a warmly welcomed by an open plan but different layouts as a traditional home setting. A perfect mix of contemporary and classic design elements of old Shanghai, a bevel edge glass window and black iron frame in French style. The place is dominated with gold, red, and black color. The decoration is look like an expensive Chinese restaurants. And yes, the price is quite expensive. However, it is worth to try! In addition, the hot tea is free!

You can browse the menu HERE

Wonton La Mian (HKD 53)

DSCF7540-01

My all time favorite la mian with wonton. The meat was pork and shrimp. The soup was brothy, fatty, and porky. The la mian was samll, thin, but chewy. Super yummy!

Minced Pork La Mian (HKD 52)

DSCF7549-01.jpeg

It is a dried la mian with separated chicken herbal soup. The minced pork was so delicious! Umami taste, sweet, salty, and spicy. The soup consisted of chicken wings cooked with herbal spices. I think you will be addicted if you eat this!

Yang Chow Fried Rice (HKD 62)

DSCF7551-01.jpeg

The fried rice consisted of scrambled egg, spring onion, boiled shrimp, and vegetables. The wok sensation was there. The taste was not as tasty as minced pork la mian, but once you paired it with mapo tofu you will get addicted.

Mapo Tofu (HKD 57)

DSCF7557-01.jpeg

Don’t get surprise if the a la carte dishes are more expensive than la mian. This mapo tofu is suitable for 3-4 persons. Eat it with hot steamed rice. This is very tasty. The tofu was so soft. The bean paste (aka tauco) is also good and salty. Spicy, porky, and umami.; All in balance. Recommended!

Overall, I was so satisfies having my lunch in Shanghai Lao Lao. All of the foods we ordered were delicious! Even I add steamed rice and mapo tofu after eating one portion of wonton la mian. I’m so addicted until now! Although it’s pricey, you must try this at least once! I still remember those tasty foods on my tongue!

Bear of Color Shop, Hong Kong

Hello! I found a small coffee shop at the opposite of Dim Sum Icon, on the 3/F of The ONE Mall, Hong Kong. Maybe not many people have noticed this place since I have not found any blog review about this place. It s a hidden gem in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong.

2018_0331_16241800-01.jpeg

I did not try any drinks or cakes because I had my snack time in Dim Sum Icon. I just took some pictures because all stuffs in this place are cute and adorable. I bought the small bears and a tiny bear with my name on its T-shirt.

You may buy the stationery and all those good stuffs there. The bears are so fluffly and cute. I would lose myself to buy the big bear if I did not remember that my luggage is not big. You can also try the cakes there or you can buy flower package containing the bears for your loved ones.j

Just enjoy the photos!

Dim Sum Icon, Hong Kong – Garfield

Hello food lovers! When I visited Hong Kong, I purposely went to Dim Sun Icon. This cafe is located on the 3/F of The ONE Mall, Tsim Sha Tsui, Nathan Road. This mall is quite instagramable because there are many manga exhibition and cartoon characters stores in this mall. Oh yeah, opposite to Dim Sum Icon, there is also a very cute cafe full of 365-days-bears.

IMG_20180403_220930_338.jpg

DSCF7413-1.jpg

Dim Sum Icon does frequently change their cafe’s theme. The most popular theme was Gudetama. When I visited there in 2016, the theme has changed into another theme (which was not cute at all). So, I decided to re-visit Dim Sum Icon in 2018.

DSCF7466.JPG

Lucky me, I found Garfield for the theme! Garfield is the fat cat cartoon character since I was a kid. The cafe is small, but so cute! All area in this cafe is dominated by Garfield’s picture (yellow-orange colour). Even the table set and book menu are dominated by Garfield’s pictures. The foods are quite expensive since they have to pay the license’s of the theme. If you do not buy any kind of drink, each person will be charged HKD 10+ for hot tea. You may select what kind of tea do you prefer, though.

DSCF7414-1.jpg

DSCF7464-1.jpg

I visited Dim Sum Icon in the afternoon, around 4 PM (HKT). So, I did not hungry, just want some snack for afternoon tea. I think you will confuse of which menu you would like to order because all of the foods are adorable! Here is the menu :

What I Ordered

DSCF7462-1.jpg

Hakau (HKD 49)

2018_0331_16432400-01

It consists of 3 pcs of hakau. Each of them has different character’s face : Garfield, Odie, and Jon (the owner of Garfield).  The hakau is good and at first,

Glutinous Rice with Chicken and Egg (HKD 49)

2018_0331_16384200-01

It is called as lemper in Indonesia. Most people in Hong Kong will eat glutinous rice instead of steamed rice. This menu consists of 2 layers of glutinous rice and shredded chicken in between. The top part is like an omelette, but steamed. The happy face of Garfield is cute! The taste is okay, not too salty.

Fried Buns with Salted Egg (HKD 45)

2018_0331_16364700-01

Consist of 2 pcs, the porcupine fried buns are so cute! The outer part is so crispy (you can hear the creak sound when you bite it). The inner part is softer, filled with melted salted egg. However, the taste is not salty, but sweet, creamy, butter, and eggy. I think it is considered as sweet fried buns, not the savory buns.

Fried Wonton (HKD 39)

2018_0331_16390600-01

The fried wonton is cute with those eyes. I think the eyes are made from candy because the texture is hard. The wonton tasted good, but not addicted.

Mango Panna Cotta (HKD 39)

2018_0331_16350200-01

It looks cute with the head and tails of Garfield. It seems like the body is the panna cotta. I think that this is the best among the other foods I ordered. The panna cotta is smooth, soft, and has both mango aroma and taste (not artificial, maybe they use real mangoes). I like it! It looks small, but you will get full if you eat them all. The taste is not too sweet, which is good.

20180331_181145-01

Overall, the foods are good, but pricey. I think it’s fine to try the foods here because Dim Sum Inc offers you a new look of eating dim sum. There are lots of dim sum places in Hong Kong, but this is the most unique place to spend since every 1-2x per year they change the theme. you will do re-visit again because the theme has changed.

Stay tune for my travel journey in Hong Kong.

How to Elevate Your Chinese-look-alike Dress into The Next Level

Hello fashionista! I went to Hong Kong for my short holiday and I wanna share you about my outfit look. Since Hong Kong is a country in Asia, it is suitable to wear cheongsam, Chinese printed top/dress. However, too Chinese is so old-fashioned. I will give you some tips to make your Chinese-look outfit into more fashionable. Honestly, I am not a fashionista, but I do like mix & match my clothes to make them look new.

DSCF7819.JPG

Lensed by Fujifilm XA-2 (no edit, no filter, it’s a raw shoot)

I will give you 2 looks with 2 different Chinese outfit. I hope you like them =)

My first look is come form Stand For Women (IG: @standforwomen) Xiu Top. I love the top ♥ because this top is so pretty, silky, comfy to wear on, and light! The fabric is good, silky-like, and the crane-printed top will make you look a Chinese princess. I wear this top with Escarpat pants to make look stylish, but not too much. You can wear pump shoes, sneakers, or wedges. For me, I choose to wear canvas shoes so that I can strolling around Hong Kong in ease. Choose a pair of shoes that are fit and comfy for you while you are traveling.

My second look comes from Minimal Store (IG: @minimalstores) : Pearl Rose Dress. This dress is so beautiful, elegant, and feminine, suitable for evening party. I want to make this pretty dress into something different. If you just wear the dress, somehow it looks like a modern mini cheongsam. To make it into fashionable look, you can wear beret hat (a hat for winter, usually made from wool). I wear lace outer from Miss Sixty to make it look chic and fresh. Wearing elegant dress is sometimes too boring, but you can wear a hat and an outer to make the dress looks cute. I also wear shoes from Marks&Spencer Check out my post on my Instagram @jessica_sisy

Hokkaido Dairy Farm, Hong Kong

Hello food lovers! My travel journey started in this small cute cafe, namely Hokkaido Dairy Farm. I spotted this cafe when my taxi passed after I landed in Hong Kong =p Since it is near from my hotel in Mong Kok, thus I did search some search about this cafe.

The place is small, but cute. The decoration is simple, dominated by blue-white colour, and it makes you feel like you are eating in a small barn. From the outside, the cafe is just like a small blue house, which is my favorite colour. It is beside The PHO restaurant.

FOOD SET MENU

Japanese curry rice is their signature dish. There are also breakfast set menu and honey toast. If you go for breakfast, you can try their breakfast menu. Although I came here for dinner, mostly the customers ordered their big breakfast menu and honey toast. As for me, I ordered Beef Bowl Rice, Fish Katsu Curry, and Hamburg Steak Curry. All of these dishes are set with drink (choose between lemon tea/juice/milk tea).

Fish Katsu Curry (HKD 68, include drink)

DSCF6986-01.jpeg

I like the deep-fried fish (red snapper fish) since it does not have fishy smell. As for the rice, this is a Japanese rice. Chewy texture, me love it! However, I don’t like the curry’s taste since it is different with the authentic Japanese curry’s taste.

Hamburg Steak Curry (HKD 69, include drink)

DSCF6976-01.jpeg

The steak is good, tender, and beefy. The meat is also good if you add the curry. I think the taste of curry is more suitable with the beef meat rather than fish or chicken.

Beef Bowl Rice (HKD 58, include drink)

DSCF6978-01.jpeg

This one is most likely Japanese Beef Bowl Rice from Y*s*****a in Jakarta. However, the taste is not as good as the one in Jakarta. The beef has more fat rather than meat. Since I hate fat, I don’t like this beef bowl rice =(

Moreover, you can try this cafe since you will never get to try it in Indonesia. All of stores started with “Hokkaido” always sell cheese tart and desserts. In Hong Kong, you can try the breakfast menu, honey toast, and curry rice.

Stay tune for my travel journey in Hong Kong.

Line Store, Hong Kong

Hello all! I visited Hong Kong for my first holiday in 2018. You can see my last post in Hong Kong HERE.

One of my destinations was LINE Store Hong Kong in Hysan Place, Causeway Bay. The store is located on the 2nd floor. You will notice when you see a big statue of Brown. Actually, there are 2 LINE stores in Hong Kong: Hysan Place and Langham Place (smaller than Hysan Place). I have been to Hysan Place twice (in 2016 and 2018). I could see that the place has changed since there was Cony’ statue back in 2016, while the statue is replaced by Choco.

Me with Brown

Choco is the younger sister of brown. Choco has a pair of small, black eyes, two tiny ears and a short tail like her brother Brown. but has a big, peach-coloured bow on top of her head and her skin colour is lighter than Brown. Usually, she wears different types of clothes everyday, although she usually wears a peach-coloured dress paired with a yellow bag with a pink heart-shaped button. Unlike Brown, Choco has a passion of being a gossip girl and she is more sociable. Moreover, she is media-savvy and loves to show off by sharing her own selfies. For me, Choco is so cute with that big bow on her head.

I visited the LINE Store in Hysan Place which has 2 stores: Stationery and Apparel. The place is dominated by brown and yellow color for the Stationery store. Many cute stuffs there. Starting with the pen, dolls, Notebook’s case, towel, sweater, and many more. I just bough a small wallet and a Notebook’s case. There was a promotion if you buy certain products. The price starts from HKD 30 if I’m not mistaken.

As for the apparel Store, the place is dominated by pink color. It is Choco’s favorite colour! The clothes sold consists of sweater, towels, caps, and dog’s bag. Actually I want to buy a cute sweater there, but I think I will not wear it in Indonesia. So, I bought this red cap for me.

Le’Mangano, Alam Sutra

Le' Mangano Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato

DSCF5967.JPG
Hello food lovers!

Lantai 2

Suasananya tenang, nyaman, dan cocok buat makan bareng keluarga, kumpul-kumpul arisan, maupun merayakan ulang tahun. Pas gw berkunjung sih rame ya. Pas selesai makan pun masih banyak meja yg makan.

The painting

Makanan di Le’Mangano memang Indonesian food semua dengan menu andalannya: Gulai Kepala kakap! Gw review satu per satu masakan yg gw order ya:

2018_0316_12441200-01.jpeg

Gulai Kepala kakap (88k / 500 gram*)

DSCF6011.JPG
Mantep!

Oseng Jantung Pisang Teri (28k)

DSCF5928.JPG
Ini pertama kalinya makan jantung pisang yang sehat buat jantung. Rasanya enak, ga pahit, miirp bumbu pecel tapi pedas karena ada terasinya. Aroma sedap, menggoda banget. Enak banget dimakan pakai nasi panas dan kuah gulai.

Tahu & tempe penyet (13k / porsi)

DSCF5962.JPG

Enaaakk!

Bakwan Jagung (23k / 3 pcs)

DSCF5957.JPG
My favorite! Bakwannya nagih. Awalnya pesan 1 porsi (isi 3 pcs). Bakwannya lebar dan agak tipis. Pas dimakan enak abnget! Renyah, empuk, dan gurih. Bikin nagih deh. Makanya nambah jadi 2 porsi!

Kopi Susu Panas (19k)

DSCF5971.JPG
Proses pembuatan kopinya seperti cappucino, tetapi pakai susu kental manis. kopi susu khas Indonesia nih. Bagian atas kopinya dan bagian bawah susu kental manis. Kalo mau cobain kopinya, jangan diaduk dulu.

Selamat mencoba!
