WAKI Japanese BBQ, Thamrin

WAKI Japanese BBQ Dining Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato

Hello meat lovers! I think some of you have already heard that WAKI Japanese BBQ has the best beef in town! That’s right! I agree with them. It’s my pleasure to get invitation from WAKI itself and to make my own HONEST review about their food.

WAKI is located in Thamrin, more precisely on the 2nd floor of Metro Coffee. You will recognize the logo (big cow’s head) on the rooftop. The Metro Coffee itself is also pretty and suitable for OOTD photoshoot. Back to WAKI, the place is quite big and spacious. It has 3 VIP rooms which are all connected into 1 big VIP room for an event. The VIP room is very private and soundproof. WAKI has also semi-private rooms in which the place is only separated with partition and not soundproof. So, you can see the dining area from the semi-private room. It is more spacious rather than VIP room. The dining area is the place for less than 6 people. There is also a bar for alcoholic drinks. This place is suitable for holding a celebration or event.

WAKI serves you the most excellent quality of beef and halal foods with affordable price. There are promotions for set menu and lunch menu as well for only 49k to 69k, including Rice bowls and Gyutandon with free salad and soup. No pork, no lard. The market target is for middle up section, but the price is not as expensive as I thought before.Since they serve alcholic drinks, they also serve Korean side dishes. They said that Korean dishes are perfect for alcholc drinks. So, don’t get confuse if you see many Korean dishes on the menu book. It still a Japanese restaurant.

Are you ready to get hungry? *Drool

I could not help myself not to get tempted while looking all of these photos.

Kimchi (29k)

The kimchi is delicious; not only for the seasoning , but also from the cabbage’s texture. Originally, the cabbage is fermented for 7 days, but in WAKI, the fermentation process is only 3 days. This will result in crunchy texture of the kimchi and less sour. The spiciness and sourness are lower than Korean Kimchi. It is a good point when a Japanese restaurant can make a tasty kimchi.

WAKI Salad (45k)

This is my favorite dish. The Salad is fresh and has katsuobushi on top. There is tofu as well. The sesame dressing is very good;with its thick texture and bold taste. Super yummy!

Chijmi (59k)

It is a Korean pancake with WAKI special sesame sauce. I like the pancake because the texture is so crunchy on the outside and soft in the inside.

Kalbi soup (39k)

It is a spicy short ribs beef soup  with beef broth and vegetables. The beef is tender and the broth si quite good. For me it is not spicy, only the red colour makes it looked spicy.

Chapjae (95k)

The chapjae is delicious! The glass noodle is perfectly cooked with the sweet savoury seasoning. Must try!

WAKI Platter for 4-5 pax (389k)

RECOMMENDED! You must order this platter. The platter is quite big and suitable for 4-5 persons. You must eat them with this sequence : gyutan, kalbi, and jyo kalbi. Don’t get mix up since you will ruin your taste palette. The gyutan is so tender, perhaps the best beef tongue I’ve ever eaten. The kalbi is so juicy, meaty, and tender.

Moriawase (415k)

NEW MENU! It’s less than a month since WAKI serves this menu. The platter consists of the excellent quality of meat in which saikoro is my favorite! You may try the kalbi, jyo kalbi, harami, saikoro, and misuji in Moriawase platter. I think this is the best platter you’ll get in WAKI. MUST TRY! You can eat the beef with their sauce: Sweet onion sauce (my favorite), Lemon sauce, and Savoury sauce.

Ippon Kalbi (85k)

It is a tender long strip marinated meat in a small pot.The ribs is marinated with onion sauce, then grilled and cut into small pieces. You may taste the sweet taste when you chew the meat.

Tokujyo Kalbi  – PREMIUM Japanese A4 Wagyu Short Rib (279k)

This is the most premium and excellent quality of the meat that WAKI has. It only consists of 5 pieces in one plate. The pinkish red colour looks tempting. When you grill the meat, hmmm you can smell the delicious meat. The texture and the taste are excellent. Very recommended!

Premium spicy gyutan don set (75k+) and Lunch set menu (49k+)

All the set menu include Free soup dan salad. The beef sliced is tender and the sauce is tasty. It’s not the same with any other Japanese restaurant. BBQ lunch set starts from 69k and the rice bowl set meal starts from 49k.

Gyutan: beef’s tongue
Kalbi : sliced beef shortplate
Jyo Kalbi : sliced beef strip-loin
Harami : sliced hanging tender, a lean cut of beef with a bold flavor.
Saikoro: diced beef tenderloin
Misuji : sliced oyster blade

WAKI Rice (25k)

Rice drizzled with WAKI sauce and topped with nori, scallions, and sesame seeds. The rice is so tasty! Tasted like rice bowl without meat.

Mochi Ice Cream

The mochi ice cream is good. The mochi is chewy and the black sesame ice crema inside the mochi is also good. Yummy!

Ice cream (19k-25k)

There are 5 flavors of ice cream : vanilla, strawberry, coffee, matcha, and black sesame. The strawberry is made from the fruit itself. You may know it from the gritty texture. The Coffee and Matcha are the best! They are my favorite and not too sweet.

Overall, you will have NO REGRET after having your meal in WAKI. They serve the best quality of meat and the price is still affordable. The place is cozy, the service is good, and many selections of meat that you can try. You can indulge yourself in WAKI and I guarantee that you will satisfy with the food. Happy eating!

Burgushi – PHX, Grogol

Burgushi Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato

Hello burger lovers! This time, I try Burgushi – a burger shop located in PHX, Grogol. Burgushi is at the 2nd floor, near the “lounge”. So, you can buy the burger and eat it in the lounge with full AC. Honestly, the concept of open kitchen in PHX (for almost all food tenants) is very interesting in which the customers can directly see the cooking process from the outside. However, the place is so hot! Better to dine in the lounge. This place is suitable for weekend-hangout for youth.

Back to Burgushi, I ordered 3 menus : Beef Wakame, Tuna Aburi, and Salmon Mentai. All flavors of the burger is from Japanese food, that’s why I call it a fusion between western (burger) and east (japanese food flavor). I also ordered the french fries and the ocha.

Minions Burger Feast

Beef Wakame (35k)

This is Burgushi’s signature dish. So tasty and beefy. The meat is tender, while the wakame tasted good. It does not smell fishy at all. I think it is a good combination to put the healthy wakame inside the patty.

Tuna Aburi (35k)

The tuna meat is tender and good. The roasted tuna tasted good, but tasted salty. It should be sweet. Maybe due to the sauce is lack of sugar at that time.  Overall, it’s good.

Salmon Mentai (40k)

Ths is my favorite burger after Beef Wakame. I love the salmon, the seasoning is just perfect! For you who are on diet, better to choose this. Tasted good and still healthy.

French Fries (15k)

Actually, I don’t like french fries. However, I love the fries in Burgushi. The ‘fat’ shape and seasoning are just perfect for me. Must try!

Overall, I enjoy my lunch in Burgushi. The burger is small, but full of meat. Just enough for my lunch’s portion. The price is economical and you can choose package of burger + french fries+ ocha. Happy eating!

Pablo Cheese Cheese Ice Cream VS Ezo Cheesecake Camembert Ice Cream

Pablo Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato

Hello dessert lovers! It’s been a while since I wrote my article about “Hokkaido Baked VS Hokkaido Baby Cheese Tarts”. If you have not read that article, you can directly click HERE. Hope you guys could decide which one is the best ♥

Now, I’m eager to compare the popular cheese ice cream between Pablo’s and Ezo’s.

Coming from Osaka, Japan, Pablo Cheese Tart has gained its popularity in South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Philippine, Singapore, and Indonesia. In Japan, the Pablo’s store in Shinsaibashi is always full of crowd from morning till noon. Good news for all people in Jakarta! You can taste the famous cheese tarts in 3 stores: Gandaria City Mall,  Neo Soho Mall, and Kelapa Gading Mall (the newest store). I hope Pablo would open a store in Malaysia, since I often go to that country.

Pablo has many menus besides the cheese tart, such as Frute and Soft Cheese Ice Cream. For the ice cream, they have 2 flavors : Cheese and Matcha Cheese. I have tried both of them. The cheese flavor is quite good, milky, creamy, cheesy, and bold. The texture of the ice cream is soft, but thick. When you eat it, you can taste the boldness of the cheese, creamy, and a little bit sour left behind (aftertaste). The ice cream is also not easy to melt.

For the matcha ice cream, the cheese flavor is more dominant than the matcha taste. The matcha tasted a little bit astringent and bold. So, it  can reduce the creaminess of the cheese. I like this flavor more than the original cheese flavor because I can eat one portion without feeling too much. The matcha and cheese flavor combined perfectly.

Ezo Cheesecake is come form Hokkaido, Japan. The small cheese cakes are filled with the cheese bomb on the bottom. There are many flavors for the cheese tarts, such as lemon yuzu, Nutella, Ovomaltine, Espresso, Matcha, etc. Ezo uses the ingredients imported form Japan for the baked goods. MAde form natural ingredient and baked fresh daily to bring out the best flavour available on the store shelves everyday. Now, you can visit Ezo’s store in PIK, Taman Anggrek Mall, and Kelapa Gading Mall, Jakarta.

Different from Pablo, Ezo Cheesecake has only one flavor of the ice cream. The Camembert ice cream from Ezo Cheesecake! Most of you have tried this one, I guess. The cheese tasted like immatured camembert cheese. The creamy and sour taste are left in your mouth. The ice cream is similar with Pablo’s. In terms of texture, the ice cream is also soft and thick. The taste are bold, milky, and creamy. The ice cream is filled inside the cone from top to the bottom. In affordable price, you can enjoy this tasty ice cream.

1. The Taste

We are comparing the original cheese ice cream from Pablo and the Camembert ice cream from Ezo. In terms of taste, both of them tasted like real cheese. For Ezo’s, it is more specific, which is the Camembert Cheese. As for Pablo’s, judging from the smell and taste, it is more likely Cheddar type (in my opinion).  Actually, both of the are really good and have similar taste.

Winner: It is a tie.

2. The Flavor variants

In terms of flavor variants, Pablo Cheese Tart wins over Ezo Cheese Cake. Pablo has original and matcha, while Ezo has only one flavor: the original flavor.

Winner: Pablo’s ice cream

3 The Price

As for the price, Ezo’s ice cream (IDR 20k) is cheaper than Pablo’s (IDR 35k). It’s almost half of the Pablo’s price.

Winner: Ezo’s ice cream

Overall, both of them are very good. The cheese ice cream is unique and made form fresh ingredients. However, I prefer to have Ezo’s Camembert ice cream since  it tasted lighter and could easily finish one portion. If you want to save more money, than choose Ezo’s ice cream. If you don’t care about the price of the food, then you can go for Pablo’s and try both flavors. It depends on your own perception. For economical reason, you can always choose the cheapier one with high quality.

Beautiful in White

– at The White Clover, Bandung

White is associated with light, goodness, innocence, purity, and virginity. It is considered to be the color of perfection. White means safety, purity, and cleanliness. As opposed to black, white usually has a positive connotation. White can represent a successful beginning.

Wearing a white outfit can elevate your look to the next level. You can also wearing white as the basic color to do mix & match for your look. However, some people think that wearing white outfit will make you look boring, pale, and very simple. I think the simplicity of white can radiate your own inner beauty.

Wearing white with black is perfect! Monochrome outfit is perfect for casual, semi-formal, and also formal looks. During the photoshoot, I wear this Melanie Jumpsuit (Melanie Trump did wear this jumpsuit!). Stealing her look in this beautiful place, why not?

However, wearing white in a wedding party is a BIG NO! It is not good to compete with the bride. You may wear white outfit for dating, birthday party, or any other events. White T-shirt can also be mixed with any other colour to increase your look.

So, will you add white to your wardrobe? ♥

Tim Ho Wan, Mid Valley, Malaysia

Tim Ho Wan is a popular chinese restaurant, specialty in dim sum. Tim Ho Wan has been so famous in Hong Kong, Singapore, and also Indonesia. Originally came from Hong Kong, Tim Ho Wan now has 45 locations around Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Singapore, the Philippines, Australia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and the United States.

I visited the one in Malaysia, more precisely at Mid Valley Mall. The restaurant is located at the outside of the mall, across the Starbucks. It is a two-story building, but customers are usually sit on the 1st floor. The place is spacious, chinese-type design, and minimalist. The ambience is good and suitbale for breakfast to lunch.

The menu is slightly different with the one in Indonesia. They have pork la mian menus and some other new menus. I only try the pork la mian for the new menu. The dim sum menu is the same with the one in Indonesia.

Pork La Mian

Dim Sum and Rice

We tried the hakao, veggie hakao, siomay, charsiu pao, chong fan, and the infamous pork buns. I love the pork buns. The buns are crispy and sweet on the crust, but very soft in the inside.

The steamed rice with pork sausage and mushroom is also famous. Eat it with the sweet salty sauce, special from Tim Ho Wan. The aroma is so tempting and the taste is so delicious!

Pork Buns

Steamed Rice with Pork Sausage and Mushroom

Chong Fan (Pork)

Fried Shrimp Dumplings

Pork Siomay

The wonton noodle is also good! The wonton is yummy, full of shrimp, and tasted good. The noodle is thin, rope-like shape, and actually a Hong Kong-style noodle. this is what I like the most!

Actually, I only like the pork buns and the wonton noodle. For the rest of the dim sums, I think they are so-so, like any other dim sums from other Chinese restaurants. Overall, the place is good, the foods are quiet tasty, although they are pricey for just dim sums. If you don’t know where to eat in Mid Valley, you can just go to Tim Ho Wan for their dim sums!

Tokyo Secret, Malaysia

Tokyo Secret Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato

Tokyo Secret is selling Japanese Hanjuku Cheese Tart (or Half Baked Cheese Tart) made by high quality cheese imported directly from Japan. The company is originated from Hong Kong. In Indonesia, Tokyo Secret has not yet opened. Hopefully, they will open their outlet in Jakarta ♥

I visited the biggest outlet in 1 Utama Mall, Damansara. The outlet in 1 Utama sells only Hanjuku Cheese Tarts! There are 4 Flavors available :-Hanjuku Cheese Tart (Original flavor), Matcha Hanjuku Cheese Tart, Hazelnut Hanjuku Cheese Tart & Coffee Hanjuku Cheese Tart. Actually, there is the Strawberry flavor in another outlet.

The store is quiet big and has some chairs besides the cashier and kitchen. The concept is a minimalist cafe. After you buy the tarts, you can directly consume them whilst they are still warm!

Freshly baked and hot from oven! There are 4 ways to enjoy the unique taste of cheese tart:
1. Consume right after it was baked under room temperature!
2. Refrigerated it, and it will taste like you are eating cheese cake
3. Freeze it in freezer, and it will turn into a tasty ice-cream
4. Lastly, reheating it with a toasters will once again, bringing back the crunchy crust and melting cheesy texture.
Cheese Tart
For me, the crust s so crispy, buttery, and combined perfectly with the creamy cheese inside the tart. The custard tasted milky, creamy, sweet, and rich of cheese! So tasty!
Chocolate Hazelnut Tart
The chocolate cream cheese filling is flowing down slowly too after one bite. Those crunchy toasted hazelnut bits that sprinkle on top goes very well with the creamy chocolate cheese filling. The chocolate crust is crispy just like the original flavor. The hazelnut is more pricey than the Original Cheese Tart, but i love it! Really love both hazelnut’s aroma and the taste as well.
Matcha Cheese Tart
This one is unique! The taste is like the authentic matcha powder from Japan. Inside the cream cheese, there is red bean and mochi. So, when you eat it, you will taste the creamy of the cheese cream, the sweet taste of red bean (azuki), and the fluffy texture of the mochi. Perfect!
Overall, Tokyo Secret offers you a high quality cheese tarts to the next level. The tart is bigger than the competitors and the price is more expensive. Pricey, but worth it! This is my most favorite cheese tart ♥

Mc Donald’s Ice Cream Cendol

McDonald's Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato

Hello foodies! During this festive season, Mc Donald’s Malaysia has launched a new flavor for ice cream, which is CENDOL! Such a unique flavor for an ice cream, right?

Cendol is a traditional dessert from Southeast Asia : such as : Indonesia, Malaysia,  Singapore, Brunei, Cambodia,East Timor, Vietnam, Thailand and Burma. Cendol is a snack made from rice flour and other ingredients, formed by filters, then mixed with palm sugar and coconut milk (for beverage) (Wikipedia, 2017). The cendol is consumed with coconut milk and palm sugar syrup with ice crystals. The taste is sweet, creamy, and addicted!

For me, Mc Donald’s is so creative to launch this new flavor during festive. You can eat the ice cream for break fasting for your dessert. The taste is dominated by the palm sugar taste and coconut milk’s mouthfeel. The green-colored cone is actually referred to the cendol.

Overall, the taste is not as good as I thought before. Perhaps, more likely you eat the coconut soup of the cendol. However, I appreciate the idea of combining traditional food with western-style dessert. Let’s try the ice cream!

Uncle Tetsu, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Uncle Tetsu's Cheesecake Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato

Uncle Tetsu’s  cheese cake is very soft, sweet, and savoury; a perfect combination of cream cheese and high quality butter. Besides the cheese cakes, there are cheese tarts and madelines (new).

In Malaysia, there are 2 outlets : Pavilion Mall and Mid Valley Mall. I went to the one in Pavilion Mall, located on the Basement Floor. The store is small, near the escalator. I bought the cheese tarts and madelines since I had tried the cheese cake in Jakarta.

The cheese tart is good! The tart is crunchy, very light, soft, and less sweet. The cream cheese is also less sweet and delicious! Slightly salty, savoury, but creamy and buttery tasted. You can eat more than one cheese tarts and never get too much.

The madelines are actually muffins. There are 4 flavors: Early Grey, Matcha, Chocolate, and Honey. Actually, the texture is not as fluffy as I thought. It’s full, un-fluffy (bantat), and less sweet. Seems like eating brownies. I don’t like the madelines, except the chocolate flavor.

Overall, two thumbs up for Uncle Tetsu! The cheese cake is very good, as well as the cheese tarts. For the madelines, they need some improvement in the dough and the flavor taste. Heading up to Uncle Tetsu now!

Kedai MiKoRo (Mie, Kopi, Roti ), Kelapa Gading

Kedai MiKoRo Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato

Hello all Ropang lovers! We’ve got a new cafe in Kelapa Gading, named Kedai MiKoRo (Mie, Kopi, Roti). It is located at Jl. Acordion No.L-5, Pegangsaan Dua, Kelapa Gading. From OTW cafe, just go straight and the cafe is on the left side. The place is quite big, bright at night, and it has two areas: the indoor area and outdoor area.

The outdoor area has a small ‘angkringan’ (a type of Indonesian wheeled cart) for the ‘Nasi Kucing’. The concept is ‘ropang/warmindo,’ in which the customers can directly see the kitchen (open-kitchen concept). The wall decorations are cute, minimalistic, and simple. The outdoor area is kinda wider than the indoor area, and is suitable as an area for smoking.

Outdoor Entrance

The indoor area is smaller, but I like the decorations. There are cute drawings over the wall and some cute stuff arranged on the wall. The place is cozy and they have free wi-fi. So, you can do your work, while eating and surfing the internet at once. ♥

For the food, I almost love them all ♥

As for the food,  I like the Curry Nippon Indomie, Pineapple and Tuna Toasted Bread, Scrambled Egg Toasted Bread, Cheese Flavored Pompom Fries, and the Choco Cheese Toasted Bread.

Internet Mozilla

Nasi Kucing with Sausage and Baso Bakar

Nasi Kucing with Sate Taichan mini

Indomie Curry Nippon

For the drinks, we had the Green Tea Thai Tea, Thai Milk Tea, and Pontianak Orange Juice. The recommended one is the Pontianak Orange Juice since the sweet and astringent taste was so unique. The orange taste is quite strong and fresh! You should try this!

For the roti bakar, you can pick between the Pineapple Tuna Roti Bakar and the Scrambled Egg with Cheese. They are both so tasty; the bread is crispy on the outside, but still soft in the inside. Here is the Scrambled Egg Roti Bakar:

Here is the Pineapple and Tuna Roti Bakar. Tasted so gewd!

Pineapple & Tuna Roti Bakar

Green Tea Roti Bakar

Nutella Roti Bakar

For the appetizer, I tried the Bitterballen and Pompom Fries with Cheese. Both of them are good and I like the cheese 🙂

Overall, Kedai MiKoRo takes a place to hangout with friends or family with  a ‘ropang’ concept to the next level. The signature menu items are the Indomie Gongso, Roti Bakar, Nasi Kucing, Street Food, and Snacks. The place is good, quite spacious and cozy. It is suitable for young adults and teenagers. The price is also affordable for them.
